After a controversial, infuriating and exciting 39 days of the FIFA World Cup Championship, Spain takes back, after 16 years, the trophy and title of ‘Best in the World’. A two hour game against Argentina, dominated by Spain, extended into extra time leading to the winning goal that sent all of Spain into joint happiness screams, wherever they where in the world. In Madrid, you could see families and friends in their apartments watching the game and when the winning goal was made, and when Spain was officially declared the winners, as if in a practiced choreography, everyone jumped to their feet, joyful screams and clapping were heard from each balcony and car horns went off without stop. The chant ‘Viva España’, coming from apartments and every street bar, could be heard 6 stories up.
